If you follow my instagram you will know that I spent a bit of time in New York City this past week. It was my birthday so we had a mini getaway. Before leaving (we drove), my husband and I participated in Mud Hero Urban at Ontario Place. For those who don’t know, Ontario Place was an amusement park in the heart of Toronto by the water. It was closed a few years ago, but for the last weekend in May it was the home of a mud run. It was pretty weird running through rides and areas that served so many of my childhood memories, but it was a beautiful setting and crazy fun. I’m a bit afraid of heights and definitely had to face my fears during that event. We were wet, sweaty, and muddy…and it was awesome.
Right after completing, we showered and drove 8 hours for some Big Apple fun. Although we averaged about 30k steps a day (we walked everywhere), we never got to a gym to really work out. We did eat pretty healthy though. Needless to say getting back into my fitness routine since being back has been challenging. My legs are so sore from leg day, but I love that pain. It feels great to get back to my routine. It can be hard to start up again after taking a break from any activity, but it is important to stay motivated. Half the battle is showing up. Never let yourself get into too much of a slump. A trick to get back into a routine is to always work out on Monday. When you start your week off with some fitness it keeps you motivated to continue. So far so good.
